The Roots of our Suffering: Ego Consciousness

My passion for psychology started early—around 14 or 15—when I took my first psychology course and realized it helped explain so much of human life: our successes and failures, love and conflict, creativity and fear. Over time, that curiosity became a lifelong calling. Whether I’ve worked with individuals, groups, or communities, I’ve seen how deeply these patterns run—through our inner lives and right up to our global systems—helping explain both our struggles and our potential for transformation.

That understanding has guided me ever since, and it’s at the heart of this upcoming class.

In this next Ecopsych Inspiration, we’ll explore Ego-consciousness and ten psychological principles that illuminate some of the deepest causes of the suffering we experience individually and collectively. We’ll look at how patterns like fear and control show up not only in our own minds, but in our relationships, communities, and systems—and how awareness of these dynamics can open space for healing and change.

This session will be more structured than our first, with a presentation, slideshow, experiential applications, and time for discussion and Q&A.

  • Format: Online, interactive 90-minute gathering (Recording provided if you can’t attend live)
  • Topic: Ego-Consciousness, insights we need for understanding and paths for action
  • Contribution: Pay-what-you-can, with scholarships always available
